Consultant Breast Surgeon

CONSULTANT BREAST SURGEON

I am a highly experienced consultant breast surgeon who has specialised in treating breast disease for 20 years.

I trained at St Bartholomews Hospital, in London and am a member of the Royal College of Surgeons of England.

I currently chair the ABS and NHS Breast Screening Programme Audit Committee. This committee is responsible for the UK breast screening data collection. An annual report is produced so as to help towards producing ongoing service improvements for women with screen-detected breast cancer.

This website aims to provide some helpful information about my breast service. It also provides useful links to other breast care websites. These links provide comprehensive explanations of several breast conditions.

All patients are given an individual high-quality service, using the latest medical innovations, such as sentinel node biopsy, intraoperative analysis of lymph nodes (OSNA), Magseed and vacuum-assisted biopsies.

My breast clinics are assisted by a full complement of consultant breast radiologists and breast care nurses. The majority of patients are given a diagnosis at the first consultation clinic, although sometimes biopsy results are required at another appointment.

My main breast disease interests are:

Breast cancer, breast pain, reconstruction, sentinel node biopsy, nipple discharge, family history. I also perform augmentations and implant removals or exchanges.
I have regularly lectured on breast cancer both nationally and internationally and have published extensively on breast disease.

Appointments:

I see private patients at the Chiltern Hospital on Tuesday mornings, Tuesday evenings and Friday mornings every week. My private secretary, Sharon De Foord-Gomez, may be contacted at the Chiltern Hospital (Tel: 01494-892265) for bookings and further information about clinic appointments.
I see NHS patients in clinics in the Wycombe Breast Unit. My secretary, Sandra Easden, may be contacted via the Wycombe Hospital switchboard (01494-526161). However, all NHS patients require a GP referral.

All breast clinics are set up as one-stop clinics. This means that patients have a consultation, including clinical examination, with the appropriate radiology tests (mammograms and/or ultrasound scans) all performed at the same visit. Patients who require a biopsy are usually brought back for results at a second clinic appointment.
